Multimedia Microlesson:
How Bees Pollinate

Process

I designed this micro-lesson for a multimedia instruction course. The project requirements were to create a 5-10 minute multimedia lesson that is Web-based, distributed, interactive, and adheres to Mayer’s Principles of Multimedia Instruction.

My intended learner audience are individuals interested in learning more about bees.  The main learner characteristic is an interest in learning about bees and supporting bee conservation. The learning is intended to be displayed on an informative website about bees or on a non-profit website that works towards awareness of bee population decline. My learning is designed to offer concise information on how bees pollinate, which include why bees are important, key terms, flower and bee anatomy and how bees pollinate.

The learning objectives are:

  • Learners will be able to define pollination and pollinators

  • Learners will be able to name 3 parts of a flower essential for pollination

  • Learners will be able to name 2 parts of a bee that are essential to pollination

  • Learners will be able to summarize how bees pollinate

Tools Used: PowerPoint, Articulate Storyline 360

Target Audience: Learners interested in learning more about bees and bee conservation
